An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is a set of guidelines developed to ensure acceptable use of the ‘Get Real’ website. The aim of this policy is to ensure that pupils will benefit from the learning opportunities offered by the online resources in a safe and effective manner. This policy will serve as a written agreement to which users (the participating students and teachers) must adhere to in order to gain access to the site, www.thegetrealproject.ie.

TEAM wants to encourage students to express their opinions, respond openly and debate and dialogue with others on the issues presented. In order to keep the online Discussion Area safe and effective,

Users agree to:

  • Treat others the way you wish to be treated
  • Take responsibility for your own words – think before you post
  • Be respectful of others’ opinions
  • Keep your language clean and decent. Slanderous, defamatory, obscene, indecent, abusive, insulting, threatening, and harassing comments will not be tolerated. Should anyone use inappropriate language, start a personal attack, or engage in hate speech, their posts will not be uploaded, and they will be barred from all further discussions
  • The Discussion Area should not be used as a general chat board, nor as a venue for the resolution of personal disputes with other users
  • Respect your own and other people’s privacy; do not post personal information e.g., real names or contact details

TEAM will moderate responses to the forum and reserves the right to withhold comments that do not follow the outlined guidelines or that TEAM deems inappropriate.
